Online, hybrid, or in-person, we have resources for your students

Our writing advisors help students critically engage with ideas and communicate research through writing. Writing Support Centre (WSC) advisors support your students regardless of their skill level or facility in English, at any stage of the writing process, in any genre, across the disciplines, no matter what the writing assignment. Students who use our services learn to understand the expectations of university-level writing and are equipped to communicate scholarly ideas through writing.

Let's Collaborate!

Request a Writing Advisor to Present to Your Class

Faculty can schedule a writing/presentation instructor to tailor a disciplinary-specific presentation for your class. WSC staff visit over 40 classes per year to discuss writing and presentation-related topics.

One-to-One Appointments

Encourage students to book a one-to-one in-person or Zoom appointment with a writing advisor.  Please note that the WSC is an instructional unit, not an editing service.

Resources for Students

Our resources help prepare students to write university-level papers.  Please advise your students to download our resource handouts, review our online modules, and attend our seminars.

One-to-One Consultations for Faculty

Western faculty are able to make appointments for 50-minute one-to-one Zoom sessions with a senior writing advisor. We will review any kind of academic writing such as research grant proposals, professional development plans, teaching dossiers, and manuscripts. We also review professional writing such as CVs, letters of intent, cover letters, and applications. Our writing advisors will provide useful and informed feedback whatever your stage in the writing process. Book a one-to-one appointment or email us at wsc@uwo.ca.

Student Writing Advisor Program

Let your students know about opportunities to become a Western Peer Leader at the WSC. Peer Leaders gain teaching, writing, and interpersonal skills for professional school, graduate school, and future careers.
