Services for FacultyIn support of Western's response to COVID-19, we are not offering in-person services at this time. However, you can incorporate the Writing Support Centre into your cirriculum, direct students to our online resources and modules, and meet virtually with a writing advisor. Faculty can refer all students to Online Writing Assistance for writing advice, and graduate students for a one-to-one Zoom session with a writing advisor. You can request a specialized subject-specific seminar for your course.
Faculty are able to schedule Writing Support Centre staff to speak about writing related issues. Please contact Paul Schmidt at email@example.com for more information. You can request a specialized subject-specific seminar for your course.
The Writing Support Centre has designed a series of Writing at University video teaching modules which address the expectations of university-level writing. We have helpful handouts on various writing topics for your students to to download on our Writing Resources page.
Western faculty are able to make appointments for 50-minute one-to-one Zoom sessions with a senior writing advisor. We will review any kind of academic writing such as research grant proposals, professional development plans, teaching dossiers, and manuscripts. We will also review professional writing such as CVs, letters of intent, and cover letters. Our writing advisors will provide useful and informed feedback whatever your stage in the writing process. Follow the Zoom Sessions by Appointment instructions or contact Doug Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make WSC part of your curriculum
Instructors can actively encourage students to submit their assignments for review by a writing advisor, by allotting part of the grade for a specific assignment to Online Writing Assistance. Students are required to submit their assignments to receive a certain percentage of the final grade for the assignment. Please contact us for more information as we handle these requests on a first-come first-served basis.
